Three WNBA Games Tonight on ION: Clark and the Fever Visit Portland

All three Friday night games are on ION: the East-leading Fever go for a fifth straight win in Portland, where the expansion Fire stunned them by 16 in May; Bueckers and the Wings carry a clean injury report into Washington; and Reese and the streaking Dream host the last-place Storm.

The WNBA's second-half week closes with a three-game Friday slate, all on ION's free over-the-air national broadcast. ION is free with a TV antenna and streams on fubo, DIRECTV, and Sling Freestream. Here is every game tonight, how to watch, and why it matters.

Indiana Fever (18-10) at Portland Fire (11-17)

The rubber match. These teams split their first two meetings this season, each winning at home. The Fever won by 17 in Indianapolis on May 20. Then the Fire pulled a 16-point upset as 11.5-point underdogs at Moda Center on May 30. Tonight decides the series in Portland, where the Fire have played their best basketball of their inaugural season.

Indiana arrives on a four-game win streak with the league's highest-scoring offense, having cleared 100 points in all four wins and a league-record 12 times this season. Kelsey Mitchell has scored 20-plus in 12 straight games, a Fever franchise record and tied for the third-longest streak in WNBA history. Caitlin Clark (back) and Aliyah Boston (right lower leg) are both probable and expected to play. Boston's right knee scare Tuesday in Seattle, when she tripped over Flau'jae Johnson and landed hard, was precautionary. Coach Stephanie White said it "wasn't really worth the risk" to send her back out for the second half. Monique Billings (left hip) is also probable. Damiris Dantas (left knee) did not travel and will miss Sunday's game at Minnesota as well.

Portland has dropped three straight and sits 11-17, 4.5 games out of the final playoff spot. The expansion Fire are 6-7 at home, where three of their recent losses came by a single possession. Carla Leite leads the Fire at 15.3 points and 6.0 assists. Sania Feagin is out for the season (ACL). The spread has ticked toward Indiana, who opened around 8-point road favorites.

Dallas Wings (18-10) at Washington Mystics (15-12)

The most competitive game of the night. The Wings carry a clean injury report for the first time all season. Alanna Smith, who carried a probable tag with a right leg injury into Wednesday's game, is fully off the report. That gives Dallas its full rotation around Paige Bueckers (20.7 PPG, 6.2 APG) and Azzi Fudd, the All-Star 3-Point Contest champion who scored 20 on efficient shooting in Wednesday's 82-81 loss to Atlanta. Jessica Shepard leads the WNBA in rebounding at 12.1 per game and posted her 19th double-double in that loss.

The Wings lost to the Dream on Allisha Gray's game-winner with 15 seconds left, a five-point swing after Arike Ogunbowale was called for a flagrant foul on Gray's three-point attempt. Dallas led by 15 before Atlanta scored 30 in the fourth quarter. The starters scored 80 of the team's 81 points.

Washington enters on a three-game win streak that includes two of the biggest upsets of the second half: a 100-99 win over the Aces (Austin 25, Wilson 38) and a 90-82 win that ended the Valkyries' nine-game streak. Sonia Citron scores 17.4 per game, and the young frontcourt of Shakira Austin (15.0 PPG, 9.5 RPG) and Kiki Iriafen (14.8 PPG, 9.2 RPG) has rounded out a team that already led the league in rebounding and free-throw shooting. The Mystics also commit a league-worst 16.0 turnovers per game, which plays into Dallas's hands: the Wings rank fourth in points off turnovers at 16.5 per game.

Dallas won the first meeting 92-69 on May 18 in Arlington, but the Wings have not won in Washington since August 2023, dropping their last three at CareFirst Arena. These teams play again in DC on August 5. Dallas is a 3.5-point favorite.

Seattle Storm (6-24) at Atlanta Dream (17-10)

The Dream are rolling, winners of four straight and five of six, sitting a half-game behind the Fever for the East lead. Allisha Gray (19.3 PPG) scored the final five points in Wednesday's 82-81 win at Dallas, hitting three free throws after the flagrant foul, then sinking the game-winning jumper with 15 seconds left. Angel Reese posted her 18th double-double (22 points, 12 rebounds) Wednesday night in Dallas, her first game back from the knee injury that sidelined her before the All-Star break. She looks fully healthy heading into tonight, her second game back.

This is the final meeting of the season series, which is tied 1-1. Seattle won 105-90 at home on June 27, but the Dream won 89-78 at home on July 9. Atlanta is a double-digit favorite tonight.

Seattle is on a seven-game losing streak and on pace for the most losses in the franchise's 27-year history. Natisha Hiedeman scored a career-high 33 in Tuesday's 105-95 loss to Indiana, and Dominique Malonga averages 16.3 points and 8.5 rebounds. Ezi Magbegor remains out with a facial fracture. The Storm are 2-13 on the road.

Atlanta is without rookie guard Te-Hina Paopao (leg, out until approximately August 10).

Last Night

Aces 104, Liberty 99 (Prime Video, Las Vegas). A'ja Wilson had 33 points and 10 rebounds, Jackie Young added 27 and nine assists. The Aces snapped New York's three-game win streak and handed the Liberty their first loss since the All-Star break. ESPN

Lynx 104, Tempo 72 (Prime Video, Toronto). Olivia Miles, Napheesa Collier, and Courtney Williams scored 15 apiece as Minnesota won its ninth straight. The Lynx led by 26 after three quarters. Toronto dropped its fifth in a row. Sportsnet

Sky 94, Sun 88 (Chicago). Kamilla Cardoso scored 18 of her 26 points in the fourth quarter as the Sky overcame a 14-point deficit. DiJonai Carrington made her season debut (9 points in 16 minutes) after missing 27 games with a sprained foot. CBS Sports
