Three WNBA Games Today: Liberty Visits the League-Best Lynx on ABC

▶ Listen 🎧 Podcast app

The 16-6 Lynx, tied for the best record in the WNBA, host a slumping New York on ABC in a rematch both teams play short-handed, the defending-champion Aces welcome Phoenix with A'ja Wilson back, and Angel Reese's record double-double streak hangs on a leg injury. Every tipoff time and channel below, plus last night's record crowd in Montreal.

New York Liberty (13-9) at Minnesota Lynx (16-6): the rematch, short-handed on both sides

Tipoff 1:00 PM ET / 10:00 AM PT at Target Center in Minneapolis. National TV: ABC, also streaming on the ESPN app and fubo.

This is the best game of the day, and it is missing a lot of players. Minnesota, tied with Las Vegas for the league's best record at 16-6, is still without Napheesa Collier (ankle) and Emma Cechova (knee, out for the season). Olivia Miles (calf) is questionable and could return after sitting Wednesday's win in Connecticut. The Liberty could be down four rotation players: Satou Sabally (concussion) and Leonie Fiebich (foot) are out, and Pauline Astier (ankle) and Rebecca Allen (nose) are questionable.

It is a rematch of July 3, when Breanna Stewart scored 36 and New York won 99-86 at Barclays Center, the same night Cheryl Reeve was denied the wins record. Reeve has since gotten it, win No. 380 on Wednesday, and the Lynx come in off an 86-80 road win over the Sun in which Kayla McBride scored 23. New York has lost five of eight and its offense never got going in Tuesday's 88-77 loss to Dallas, shooting 40 percent from the field and 19 percent from three. Stewart still went for 29 and Jonquel Jones added 17 and 12 rebounds. The Lynx are a curious 10-2 on the road but just 6-4 at home; the Liberty are 6-4 away from Brooklyn. Minnesota is favored by about 4.5.

Portland Fire (9-13) at Atlanta Dream (13-9): Angel Reese's streak, and her ankle

Tipoff 4:00 PM ET / 1:00 PM PT at Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia. National TV: CBS, also streaming on Paramount+ (and on TSN and TSN+ in Canada).

The storyline is whether Angel Reese plays, and what she does if she does. Reese posted her 15th consecutive double-double on Thursday, 18 points and 22 rebounds, passing Tina Charles for the most double-doubles in a player's first three WNBA seasons. She leads the league in rebounding at 11.7 per game and is scoring a career-best 15.0. But she rolled her ankle with 1:19 left in that win and is questionable with a leg injury. She also picked up her seventh technical foul on Thursday, and an eighth triggers an automatic one-game suspension.

Atlanta snapped a five-game skid by beating Seattle 89-78 and sits sixth at 13-9, three games out of first. Portland is 9-13 after an 88-80 loss at Las Vegas on Thursday in which it rallied in the fourth but ran out of time. The Dream won the first meeting 86-66 in Portland on May 29, forcing a season-high 28 turnovers. Atlanta is favored by 12.5.

Phoenix Mercury (8-15) at Las Vegas Aces (16-6): A'ja Wilson, right back at it

Tipoff 6:00 PM ET / 3:00 PM PT at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas. National TV: NBCSN and Peacock (local over-the-air: KMCC Channel 34 in Vegas, AZ Family in Phoenix).

A'ja Wilson missed three games with a right ankle injury, came back Thursday in Portland, and put up 32 points and 10 rebounds in an 88-80 Aces win. She said afterward she felt ready "a couple of games ago" but the medical staff held her out. Jackie Young added 19 points and 11 assists. Las Vegas is tied with Minnesota at 16-6, is the defending champion, and has the league's top scorer in Wilson at 26.1 points per game.

Phoenix is 8-15 and owns the season split so far, in the strangest way: the Mercury blew out the Aces 99-66 on opening night, May 9 in Vegas, then Las Vegas answered with an 86-76 win on June 18. Kahleah Copper scores 20.8 per game for the Mercury and has averaged 24.9 over her last 10. Phoenix is without Natasha Mack (foot). Las Vegas lists Janiah Barker and Dana Evans as day-to-day with leg injuries.

Last night: a record crowd in Montreal, a seventh straight for the Valkyries
